Kenozero National Park is located in the North-West of Russia, the site of UNESCO World Heritage status and ideally one of the most innate reflections of the country’s cultural and natural heritage richness. The landscape of the park, shaped by the colonizing of the Slavs from the 12th century, contains wooden villages and churches with “heavens,” painted entirely inside with complicated compositions. Local connections to nature in these sights combine Finno-Ugric forest culture and Slavic traditions.
